As we said above, the Codimg Transcription tool is a new way to analyse your videos, making it easy to monitor communication during your observation sessions.
The transcription tool will listen to the video and transcribe the contents. But not only this, the AI will analyse the voices of each speaker and present you with a script which shows every line spoken by each individual participant.
And each line is connected to the video. This means you can click any line in the script to see how and why it was spoken.

Our AI can be used in the timeline, clip filter and feedback environments and, while it functions in the same way in each environment, the context changes depending on how and where you use it.
So, what is context? Let us explain…
AI generates useful insights based on the context you provide, meaning the data that you tag using your digital template.
Sources of context in each environment are as follows:

Tokens are basically the currency of AI. Whether it’s ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok, they all work with a system of tokens - and Codimg AI is no different.
Every AI request consumes tokens with the price being determined by the size of the context.
Bigger datasets use more tokens, so focusing AI on specific clips or filtered events keeps your analysis efficient.
With that being said, Codimg Premium includes a very generous allocation of tokens which should be enough for most average users throughout a 12-month period.
Tokens will be topped up yearly, alongside the renewal of your Support and Update Service.
Heavy users can purchase additional tokens during the 12-month period for a small fee, should they need it.
Token use can be tracked by clicking on the information icon in the upper right toolbar of the AI window.
Ok, let’s move on to arguably the most important aspect of Codimg AI - prompt writing.
Codimg AI is, undoubtedly, a powerful tool, but the quality of its answers very much depends on two factors - the quality of the data you provide it with and the quality of your prompts.
We’re not going to talk about the former in this blog. There are plenty of hints, tips and advice on how to improve your data collection through our website and YouTube channel.
Instead, we’re going to concentrate on the latter and give you advice on how to write the best possible prompts - the questions you ask AI.
Improving prompt writing for Large Language Models (LLMs) is all about clarity, context, and being specific - especially in fields such as healthcare or education. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of Codimg AI.
Remember that Codimg uses the context data from your analysis as a basis for its answer.
Because of this, you may need to teach it what each action and descriptor button in your digital template means, especially if you are using uncommon acronyms or terms that are specific to your analysis.
An example of this might be acronyms for positions, e.g. N1 lead nurse, D1 for head doctor.
You can do this by using the Dictionary feature of Codimg AI.
Click the settings icon in the AI window to open the dictionary. In the left column, you have a complete list of all the buttons on your digital, while the right column contains a definition of these terms.
If needed, change the definition so that the AI will be able to understand them better.
In this window, you can also define which terms you want to use by selecting them. You can hide unselected names.
You can also export your dictionary for use by a colleague, or import an existing dictionary.
When it comes time to input the prompt, ensure that the Use Dictionary option in the main menu is activated.

Codimg AI is fully integrated into the ecosystem of Codimg Premium. The answers you receive from the AI are connected intimately with your observation data and, of course, your video.
You can request that Codimg AI shows you video clips that are relevant to its answer. This is similar to how you can click any part of your Codimg dashboard to view the relevant clips in the video player.
To get a list of these clips, simply add the phrase Show Clip IDs to your prompt.
Codimg AI will provide you with a list of clips which you can view by clicking Fetch Clips on the right of the AI window.
Your clips will appear in the column on the right hand side. Click them to view them in the video player or add them to a feedback session.
Please remember that Codimg AI is not a chatbot. It will not remember information between each prompt and, therefore, you should be as specific as possible each time you ask a question.
Tell AI its role (e.g., clinical educator, simulation coordinator), what scenario is being analysed and the intended goal.
Weak prompt:
“Analyse the session.”
Strong prompt:
“As a clinical educator, identify recurring mistakes in the neonatal resuscitation scenario and highlight areas for improvement. Include Clip IDs.”

Complex tasks are easier for AI to handle when broken down into steps.
Example:
Step 1: Identify key errors or missed steps.
Step 2: Detect patterns across all participants.
Step 3: Suggest recommendations for debriefing.
Step 4: Show clip IDs.
All industries have their own terminology and AI responds better when prompts use domain-specific terms. Here’s an example for healthcare simulation.
Example:
Focus on haemodynamic instability, airway management, and team communication during the first 10 minutes of the scenario. Identify critical decision points, any deviations from ACLS protocol, and moments of ineffective closed-loop communication. Summarise key learning opportunities for debriefing and show Clip IDs.
Include scenario details like objectives, patient condition, and simulation type.
Example:
During a simulated cardiac arrest with a high-fidelity manikin, identify any errors in team communication and medication administration.

Prompt the AI to take the perspective of an experienced professional:
Example:
You are the head nurse in a busy AE department preparing a debrief of a major incident. Identify the top 3 moments that demonstrate effective teamwork and the top 3 areas for improvement.
Tell AI how to present its findings - bullet lists, tables, or structured reports.
Example:
Identify major errors in the scenario and give a recommendation on how to improve each one.
List each error in the following format:
Minute - Error type - Recommendation - Clip ID.
Codimg AI can also suggest the best way to present your ideas in debriefings and reports.
Example:
Suggest how to visually represent critical events and performance trends for a debriefing session.
You can also open AI in the digital template environment and ask for tips on what you could add to it in order to get a more complete analysis.

Here’s a starting template for your own prompts:
You are a [role, e.g., clinical educator] analysing a [simulation scenario / classroom session] with [specific learning objectives].
Focus on [skills, errors, team performance] during [specific part of scenario].
Step 1: [identify events / errors]
Step 2: [analyse patterns]
Step 3: [recommendations / insights]
Step 4: Show Clip IDs
Output in [bullet list / table / report format]
This is our last tip for using Codimg AI - constantly and consistently assess the quality of the answers you are receiving.
Remember that AI is not the be all and end all of objective analysis and will only work effectively if the data and prompts it is given are of a decent quality.
If you are not receiving the answers you want or need, then it’s likely that you need to improve either or both of these aspects.
Note that when you have prompts that you are happy with, you can save them in the Codimg AI window and use them whenever you want.
