But that’s not all…

 

We’ve added AI into the Codimg workflow. Use the power of Large Language Models to get deep into your analysis data or transcribe your videos for a brand-new method of data and video collection.

 

In addition, this update brings a few new tools which have been designed to improve your observation workflows and feedback sessions.

 

In this blog, we’ll give you a quick overview of what’s new and tell you how to update to the latest version of the software.

1. Codimg on Mac

It’s finally here…you can download Codimg for Mac, right now!

 

The Mac version of Codimg brings the same great workflows for digital observation and analysis that were previously only available on Windows. 

 

If you already use Codimg on Windows and want to change to macOS, don’t worry, this process couldn’t be easier. We’ve included some features and tools that make migration between operating systems as simple as possible.

 

Let’s take a look at some of these features now, starting with system requirements for running Codimg on Mac.

 

 

 

 

System Requirements

Here are the minimum and recommended system requirements for running Codimg on Mac computers:

 

Minimum Requirements Operating System: macOS Sonoma Processor: Apple M1 RAM: 8Gb At least 256 GB storage space

Recommended Requirements Operating System: macOS Tahoe Processor: Apple M1 RAM: 8Gb At least 500 GB storage space

One License, Two Operating Systems

Codimg licenses are interchangeable between Windows and Mac computers. 

 

Yes, you read that correctly, you don’t need to buy a separate license for each machine, if you want to switch between Windows and Mac, you simply need to deactivate your license on one and reactivate it on the other. They can’t be used on both computers simultaneously.

 

This is great news for those who work across multiple platforms. 

 

For example, a live observation could be performed on a Macbook and then the data transferred to a Windows desktop computer for further analysis.

 

It’s also great for institutions where every department works with different operating systems, ensuring that any observation done on any platform is compatible with the other.

 

In fact, cross-platform compatibility is one of the major plus points of having access to both systems.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

If you’ve been using Codimg on Windows for a long time, you’ve probably built up a sizable collection of digital templates, analysis data and feedback sessions. Don’t worry, you won’t lose this work by migrating to Mac as everything can be exported, imported and converted quite simply.

 

In the main menu of the Mac version of Codimg, you’ll find options for importing and exporting your templates, data and feedback sessions from or to Windows. 

 

 

Here's a breakdown of how to do it:

 

1. In Windows, export your resources using the export option.

2. Send the exported file to your Mac (use a pen drive, external hard drive, email, etc.)

3. Open Codimg on Mac and import the file using the import option.

4. You can now use this file on Mac.

 

Alternatively, you can use the Quick Links feature to export your work to a different operating system. By using these links, your files will be converted automatically to the new OS.

 

 

 

Quick Share Links

These were previously available on Windows for sharing digital templates, analysis data and feedback sessions with colleagues. Now they can be used to share these between operating systems.

 

Want to send a digital template made on Windows and open it on a Mac? No worries. A Mac feedback session you can open on Windows? Easy.

 

Just pass the link.

 

To create a quick share link, find the Create Quick Share option in the settings menu of each environment. Click Create Link, copy it and send it to the operating system you want to open it in.

 

To download a file from a Quick Share link, go to options in the main Codimg menu and select File followed by Download Via Quick Share.

 

Paste the link in the window that opens and the file will be automatically converted and downloaded.

2. Integrated Codimg AI

AI is on everyone’s lips at the moment - and it’s been on our minds too.

 

Throughout the last couple of years, we put our heads together with users around the world to figure out how AI can actually be useful when it comes to video observation instead of a gimmick.

 

And here are the results.

 

A virtual assistant which will scour the data you feed it and provide you with deep insights into the observed scenario.

Codimg Transcriptions: A New Way to Analyse

Part of the AI revolution, the Codimg Transcription tool is a new way to analyse your videos, making it easy to monitor communication during your observation sessions.

 

The transcription tool will listen to the video and transcribe the contents. But not only this, the AI will analyse the voices of each speaker and present you with a script which shows every line spoken by each individual participant.

 

And each line is connected to the video. This means you can click any line in the script to see how and why it was spoken.

 

The utility of this tool cannot be underestimated and that’s why we have prepared a stand-alone blog which can be read here.

 

 

 

3. Other New Tools

In this section, we’ll give you a quick rundown of the other tools we’ve added to the software in this update. Some of these will improve your data collection workflows while others will improve feedback sessions and communication.

 

Let’s take a look…

 

Cluster Pins

Cluster pins allow you to add a keyboard shortcut for tagging clustered buttons.

 

This is a very useful feature which is guaranteed to speed up your analysis work.

 

To add a cluster pin, right click on the background of the digital template in the creation environment and select Add Cluster Pin. An orange circle appears which you can move over any clustered group of buttons.

 

Choose a keyboard shortcut and, when you press this key during the observation, all the buttons which are layered under the cluster pin will be tagged.

 

A very useful tool.

 

Screen and Audio Capture

We’ve added a tool designed to make the video feedback sessions process easier - screen and audio capture.

 

Basically, this tool allows you to record what you are doing on the video player during a feedback session and add it as a new clip in the list.

 

If you add any quick drawings, for example, these will be recorded on top of the clips, as will any mouse cursor movements, although you can disable this in the options menu.

 

Finally, you have the ability to record your voice over the top of the clip in order to give quick explanations of what you are showing.

 

Once you end the capture process, a new clip will appear in the presentation list containing any drawings or voice recordings that you have added. This can then easily be exported and shared with the participants, or even uploaded to Codimg Hub for quick dissemination.

 

To sum up, this tool allows you to record what you are doing whilst presenting from the software, export these recordings and send them to the relevant people.

 

To do this, ensure that Feedback Mode is active in the feedback session environment and click the Screen Capture icon. Choose whether you want to record audio and mouse movements and click the red Record icon to begin capture.

 

Whilst recording, you can also add quick drawings by clicking the pencil icon in the video player.

 

Press the Record button to stop the capture and it will appear in the list of clips.

 

 

 

New Synergy with Codimg Hub

As of this update, you can download your observation directly from Codimg Hub and import it to Codimg Premium in order to work with the more advanced analysis tools available there.

How to Update to Codimg 11.0

Important: Remember that in order to apply this update, your Support and Update Service payments must be fully up-to-date. If this is not the case, please contact our sales team to discuss this.

 

In all other cases, follow these steps:

 

• With Automatic Updates Enabled. The next time you open Codimg, an Update Available message will appear. Download, install and…that’s it.

• With Automatic Updates Disabled. On the main Codimg menu, click Support and Licence and then Check for Updates. Download, install, and you’re good to go.
